We think that the main climateprediction.net site has been attacked using a phpBB SQL exploit. See this thread for more details.

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=1379

But I'm not absolutely sure that's you problem.

I've been seeing this regularly today too, when some of my machines tried to upload a trickle - I did a manual update (rightclick under the 'projects' tab in the BOINC GUI) and they all received a normal reply from the CP-boinc schedulers.

&gt;

Elsewhere on the site it is claimed that "...The BOINC forums, upload servers, etc are still functioning as normal..."

However on all of the computers I'm running BOINC on I get the following type of messages whenever I try &amp; do a manual update:

climateprediction.net - 2004-12-06 12:09:23 - Deferring communication with project for 1 weeks, 1 days, 19 hours, 15 minutes, and 49 seconds
climateprediction.net - 2004-12-06 12:23:32 - Master file parse failed
climateprediction.net - 2004-12-06 12:23:32 - Could not contact any schedulers for http://www.climateprediction.net/.

climateprediction.net - 2004-12-06 12:23:32 - Deferring communication with project for 1 weeks, 1 days, 13 hours, 58 minutes, and 21 seconds

So perhaps uploading isn't working after all for BOINC, manual or auto.

I thought this server was saved in the xml config files, but perhaps not. You can probably just replace the climateprediction.net with climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc until they can add the scheduler tag to the main page on the new climateprediction.net

To edit account_climateprediction.net.xml was idea i suggested earlier today but wasn't sure if it ain't brakin' somethin' else...

I wonder how climateprediction.net and climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc can both works when they are of differnt IP etc.

Try another manual update and I suspect you will most likely see "master file <b>parse</b> failed" - that is what is happening here now...

Nope, manual updates still working fine... three different systems, no problem.
Updates done at 20:48 UK time.

I wonder what the difference is between us then;

2004-12-06 20:59:33 [climateprediction.net] Master file parse failed
2004-12-06 20:59:33 [climateprediction.net] Could not contact any schedulers for http://climateprediction.net/.
2004-12-06 20:59:33 [climateprediction.net] Deferring communication with project for 40 minutes and 57 seconds

is all I see... :-(

+++

Edit: Try a second manual update - I tried on some of mine that got through last time and the failure doesn't show up until the second update, the first one looks normal...

Again, no problem... tried several succesive manual updates on all systems and all got through.

I'm running BOINC 4.13 on XP Home/Pro &amp; Windows 2000, as installed by BOINC/CPDN. (All at latest service pack levels).

Seems to be a pretty strange problem... but then, the idiosincracies of computers and Windows (in particular) kept me in gainful employment for 30 years :)

Indeed... two of my systems which were shutdown overnight are now failing to connect to the scheduler.

But the one that is left on 24/7 is still able to connect.

The thing with BOINC is that it needs an address-book.
On the main site:
http://climateprediction.net/
there is a tag that tells BOINC what the address to the scheduler is.
Witch would be this address:
http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi

So if the main page is down or the tag is missing you get an error.

Correct me if i'm wrong =)
