Anyone noticed how the time of postings is out by about 36 minutes? I'm assuming UTC equates to GMT and as I'm in GMT here in the UK CPDN's clock is slow.
To see what I mean, compare my timestamp with the time the board says I posted this message.
Here goes.

This has been going on ever since the project started. I think they've got a special clock in Oxford.

We discussed this on cpdn a few months ago.
The time at grahamd's Thursday Jan20th is 2210:00 GMT in the same
space/time ref as Cas's palace.
However, the Oxford clock ref frame is still moving at 95% speed of light.
My time check mark:

So is Oxford's calendar. If you look at the dates for User of the Week, the latest is for 20th January,
but it's listed in the achives as 17th January. The pervious UotW was for 17th January, but is
listed in the archives as 5th January.
Might have something to do with the calendar change back in 1752. I have heard of the unis in England referred
to as "the dreaming spires". Obviously missed the notice. :)

This is a strange issue, though. When I post a message to this board, it is immediately recognised as 35 minutes old! So the Board is using two clocks - one to timestamp and one to recognise the time?

So has there been any reaction from the CPDN staff about this? Or are they in the same timewarp and therefore unaware of the problem?
I know Oxford (University that is) is a little behind the times but even so....

Well lets be fair, its not exactly a major issue given the importance of the project and the tight resources they have to work with. Anyway if they fixed it how else could we poke fun at them? ;-)

This has been answered before, by Carl Christiansen.
He said "The 32 minutes is the server time difference -- they are both going to the same time server in Ireland but somehow they are eventually going astray 32 minutes!".
So it isn't local time in Oxford that is the problem :).

Anyway, whatever happened to time keeping in England? I know the government penny pinchers closed the
Greenwich observatory, and, I think were going to (have?) close Herstmonceux, (to where the 'scopes were moved),
but surely there is still an atomic clock SOMEWHERE in England?
And for those people coming directly to here via a bookmark, the front page says that just over
60,000 standard runs have been completed.
Which is the whole point of the exercise.
