Is it just me or does the new Linux client call for more work near the end of phase one (instead of phase three) for everyone? The last three models have done it. Not necessarily a problem, but definitely an oddity.

Which version of the client? Since installing 4.35 strange things are happenning with CP work units. One machine has 2 work units DLed and another machine has 3. Previously they would only have the one work unit that was active. It is almost one a day. If I get another one tomorrow I will go back to 4.32.

CPDN is stable with BOINC 4.25, but versions past this are untested here. The problem with testing is that our wus take a long time to complete, compared to those of other projects.
4.35 is apparently rather different to 4.25 in that it uses widgets, whatever they are. This MAY make it unstable on this project.
Anyone using these versions is working in unknown terrority. You may need to start a thread on the Community forum to document problems.

4.35 also has a new internal scheduler and it works quite a bit differently than the older versions. Especially right after it is installed. Wait a week or so, monitor it and see where you stand then.

I just started it on my Macintosh with the new GUI, so, I am out ther ewith you.

I've not had a core client change in many moons... this is the CPDN program following all the Linux lost work unit problems from March.

I think that the current Linux version is still 4.13
This was stated by Tolu to be a copy of the Classic version, in an attempt to provide something that works, while he works on other problems.

His stack of things-to-do must be so high by now that he needs a ladder to get to the top. :(

I'm using 4.35 for couple of days with no problems (upgraded from 4.19); running 4.12 models of SC 4.09 Alpha (now 99.2%). New features are welcomed (e.g. "No new work") and it looks like first usable BOINC Manager - the features, GUI etc.
Do a backup prior to upgrade :-)

My Linux client (4.19) with HADSM 4.13, downloaded its new model at the end of Phase 1, too. At first, I thought the current model must have crashed, but it hasn't. The new model is just sitting, waiting patiently for the current model to finish. I hope the transition at the end of phase 3, due in three days or so, will go smoothly.

From here, the miscomputation of started with hadsm3_4_13.

I have been running boinc 4.19 since 2005-2-2, so it's not boinc.

The nice thing about hadsm3_4_13 on Linux is, that it doesn't restart itself
when a trickle fails like the older ones did. "if this happens repeatedly ..."

I'm on a dialup, and the servers have had their own problems lately, so this feature has been saving some time, and also saving potential screwups like I've
seen with a few model uploads the last few months that didn't work quite smooth,
possibly because of modem and/or server problems at critical moments.

Cheers,

Eirik

That's "miscomputation of fraction_done" -- as it appears in client_state.xml
