hi,

i just downloaded my new ClimatePrediction assignment under Bionic v4.25, did about 2% of work.

THEN my hard drive died (hardware failure), requiring that i physically replace my hard drive.

as i don\'t have a data backup of this new Work Assignment, will ClimatePrediction be smart enough to download this same assignment back onto my computer (with new hard drive)?

or do i manually re-download my assignment?
how do i do this ??

don\'t want to jeopardize CP\'s work...

Unless you have on offline backup, you've lost your previous model. Eventually, someone else will get that data set.
All models come from a data set pool at random, and the one you had will still be marked as being worked on until it fails to report back in a few weeks time.

This happened to me too this last month. I lost more than my CPDN model unfortunately ... But this is one aspect of BOINC, as described by Les, that is working as designed. As in, these things happen ...

***Thanks, but can't I *report* that my current project has been lost?

If this cannot be done, then it'll be 50 weeks more before CP realizes that this (lost) project will not be completed...

Surely this is a design problem--I own just 1 computer, working on just 1 CP project, and not on any teams... surely CP will know which of my (only) project was lost, if only I can report that my current project has been lost?

Needs some serious re-designing in this area...

No need. CP can generate WU at will.

Also after a couple of months they will know there have been no trickles and can re-issue it.

I see no need for any re-design. Any time they want to generate some WUs, they know what they have got and what work is being trickled. They can decide what WUs to generate from that.
