It turns out that stupid BURP is causing all other BOINC projects to send back invalid results - Seti, LHC, Predictor, and Einstein have all been sending back bad results thanks to BURP

So, that leads to the question: Does this affect CPDN too? I dont want to keep crunching the current unit I\'m on if it\'s sending back bad trickles!

Trickles aren't results. They are just a quick note to say that the model is alive and well. The science is in the final zip files.
If your model has problems, it will fail before completion and upload these files early.
And THEN you will know that you have a problem.

If you have a look at a trickle file with notepad, you can see the info it contains: 5 lines about where it is up to.

As for BURP affecting 'all other projects', are you talking about on your computer, or has it been posted on the BURP site?
And there is a simple solution: don't run it. It's not compulsary to run all projects.

One of the design items in BOINC is the concept of "Slots" where work in progress is held. IF, the BOINC API is not correctly used, it may be possible for the application to go in and do bad things to some other projects "stuff", rendering the result invalid.

I am NOT saying that this IS the problem, but it IS a possibility. The clue is in the fact that BURP is doing it to MANY projects, not just one other one (which would give rise to other indicators).

I believe that they are aware of the issue... I don't do BURP as it does not fit my profile so I don't watch their boards (though I will be adding Orbit@Home and PlanetQuest when the go active)
