Hello wise and powerful,

Just out of pure curiosity, I wonder as to why the BOINC Climateprediction.net client fails to obey the disc-usage limit I have given it. I have set in the preferences, that it may not use more than 1GB of discspace, yet even as I write this, the BOINC host program shows 1.82GBs of discspace being in use by the Climateprediction.net client. If it\'s of any use, the BOINC host program is version 4.19 (x86, Win2K) and the Climateprediction.net client is apparently version 4.13 if I deduce the version number correctly.

Any ideas?

A model just before completion takes up about 700Megs; after completion and zipping, the bulk of the model results remain on your computer, and take up about 330Megs.

You can move completed models to an area outside of the BOINC folder, archive them to cd / dvd, or just delete them if you don't care about the results.

You can read about this <a href="http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=2951"> here.</a>

Actually that never worked for me.

In 4.19 it sometimes says "there was work but not enough space" (or similar) on a download - but you have to set the allowed space close to zero to get this answer from the server.

I guess, BOINC just ignores the space the model will need for progress and includes only the plain model download space for this calculation. A model download isn't very large but it grows in progress.

As of the finished models (ready for archiving) : 4.19 seems not to see those, you can have 2 full runs and 2 runs in progress in the BOINC "projects" folder but 4.19 doesn't include the used up space of the full runs in the pie chart.

Otoh. I am aware of how much space a final model will need so this never bugged me ;-)

Thank you Les. I ended up taking your advice and moved the completed WU directories elsewhere and archived them for safe-keeping should they ever be needed. Ended up with just a tad over 400MB in use vs. the 1.82GB earlier.
