I keep getting these messages, on both systems running cpdn:

8/25/2005 7:54:59 AM|climateprediction.net|Scheduler request to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi succeeded
8/25/2005 7:54:59 AM|climateprediction.net|Message from server: Server has software problem
8/25/2005 7:54:59 AM|climateprediction.net|Project is down
8/25/2005 7:55:00 AM|climateprediction.net|Deferring communication with project for 58 seconds

What is the problem? Or is it on my end?

So, where is the status page, that will show me the server status for cpdn?

By the way, I've noticed that none of the external stats places have gotten anything from cpdn in about 36 hours or so. I've had more credit, that has been at cpdn for over 24 hours, yet boincstats, and boincsynergy do not show it...

Thanks!
Don

Not seeing what you are Don. Have a model waiting 3/4 days to go up. No trickles for 24 hours then about 12 all in a few minutes at 17:30 ish GMT today. But not your message after an update. There is still something wrong I guess....we just hang on.

It wasn't just you Don. The scheduler has been down most of today but is back up now.

It was initially returning the 'Server has software problem' message to trickles until the message changed to 'Project is temporarily shut down for mainenance' some time this afternoon.

But still, the external stats sites are not updating with cpdn credit, for near 48 hours now...

By the way, is there a "server status page", for cpdn, like this?

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_status.html

And I'm just not finding it?

Thanks!
Don

Well, from my experience, I had just pulled my first WU before the downage had occured. I\'ve past the number of timesteps since the first trickle should have been reported, when the server was down. Doesn\'t look like BOINC is trying to send it now, though the model is there ready to continue processing.

However, more about what was occuring. I went to go to forums, and of course got the same dBase (too many connections) error, so went to the others. But upon creating an account there, it never did send the confirmation email to me with the activation link for the account.

So I went to email the admins to inquire about this, but then my own ISP\'s email server reported back (almost immediately) that the email was undeliverable. Text included below, minus my email and stuff which I\'m Xing out...

I\'m not sure if this is related to the server problems that have seemed
to crop up with the BOINC servers for CPDN, where BOINC reports

10/15/2005 11:57:25 PM|climateprediction.net|Scheduler request to
http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi succeeded
10/15/2005 11:57:25 PM|climateprediction.net|Message from server: Server

10/15/2005 11:57:30 PM|climateprediction.net|Deferring communication with
project for 59 minutes and 54 seconds

and many webpages report

Warning: mysql_pconnect() [function.mysql-pconnect]: Too many connections in
/websites/boinc/projects/cpdnboinc/html/inc/db.inc on line 16
Unable to connect to database - please try again later Error: 1040Too many
connections

or not. The server status page also indicates that all are running except
for the upload server and the db_dump. But as I can\'t get to the BOINC
based message boards to either, I went to create an account to inquire about
this on these.

http://www.climateprediction.net/board/index.php

The server is waiting for me to confirm, but hasn\'t as of yet sent a
confirmation email so I could proceed.
--------------------------------------

What I noticed then was included in the email. Anyhow, it seems someone who guessed there might have been a router problem could have been onto something. Assuming the link to email the admins points to the right place in the other CPDN message board, it\'s as if CPDN had dropped off the face of the Earth...

BTW, my previous post was long enough without adding the answer to your inquiry, but there is a server status page.

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/server_status.php

However there doesn\'t seem to be a technical report page (or at least I\'m not finding it), such as here

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/tech_news.php

Look under Server Stats under \"BOINC cp.net\" to find this...

This thread was originally about a different outage, which was far worse.
The server stats page only started at the start of October.

Oh, so much for posting late at night and having not checked the dates. Post did seem somewhat close to the top of the posts list :D Guess I should have started another thread then.

Anyhow, the first trickle did get in, but the confirmation email hasn\'t arrived though on another attempt it has both my email address and user name as taken (by me), and the option to email the admins still shows the address as undeliverable. Guess I\'ll need an admin to recover a registered account in case all the BOINC boards and all go down again...
