I have un-installed, re-installed, no luck.
So far gone back to Seti Old client that works fine.
Shame as I\'d love to get the new BOINK working and contribute to Climateprediction.

Any tips appreciated

I have had the same error now for about two weeks as bionic starts up and
tries to download a new model. I haven\'t been able to resolve the issue and
the forums that discuss this problem don\'t seem to have any solution that
works for me. I\'m ready to stop trying to download a new model so that I
don\'t waste any more models.

Is there a simple way to fix things so that bionic doesn\'t start up on
startup of my computer? Or do I have to unistall the program? I would
prefer not to uninstall the program.

This error code is most likely a Microsoft error code, caused by a MS problem.
No one has come up with an answer yet, but it may be caused by some other program running at the same as BOINC / hadsm.
BOINC is not registered / compliant with MS, and so is not recognised by Windows.

Perhaps if you tried a newer version of BOINC.
There is a download page <a href=\"http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/\"> here</a> with all the versions.
I\'m using 4.25 on Win XP without any problems, <a href=\"http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_4.25_windows_intelx86.exe\"> here,</a> and 4.45 is on the download page, as well as at Berkeley.

I\'m not sure how to stop BOINC without uninstalling. Perhaps move it out of the startup folder.
Someone who knows should be along soon.

Un-installing boinc doesn\'t cause harm to the client(s). Use the Windoze facility to uninstall. Download the version you want, or simply re-install the version you were using. You\'ll be offered startup options.

\'Tis always best to make a backup before fiddling with the installation.

boinc 4.19 seems to be the most reliable extant version for CPDN. boinc 4.45 offers greater flexibility but introduces some difficulty.

I just uninstalled BIONIC 4.19 and installed BIONIC 4.45. I am
now up an running a climate model again. I don\'t know what the problem was and
don\'t know if this would work for you, but it did for me.

One of the bugs in 4.45 is when BOINC runs a benchmark. This causes hadsm to not restart.
There is a fix <a href=\"http://arnaudboinc.free.fr/\"> here,</a> and 2 linked threads starting <a href=\"http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=3174\"> here</a> which explains it a bit.

Nope. I tried - no luck. It works on other PC\'s just not (I believe) certain ones.
It\'s not to do with Microsoft code I believe as all my test PC\'s are the came patch and code release.

Just the one PC on which BOINK doean\'t work has other mainstream software on it as well.

I have given up untill maybe BOINK release a newer version - fix.

Cheers

If you google the error number you get a lot of hits, several of which point to MS. The BOINC Wiki also gets a mention now.

Ah HA !

Did lots of searching, updated my graphics driver to latest version (via Web Update), UN-Installed and deleted any references to BOINK, (why doesn\'t un-install delete the BOINK directory and files (Yawn)) re-installed and hey presto working as we type..

Thanks for all your comments and help.
Cheers

No worrys.
Actually I was just going to edit and add: the code is also found in the Microsoft Knowledge Base, but when the problem started a few months ago, the items mentioned there didn\'t help the people with a problem.
Might be worth a look though. Something to do with \"Lsass.exe\", and also another program, (video streaming?, dvd recording?). Don\'t remember now.

edit
OK. I give up. You\'re finding answers faster than I can think of possibilities. :)

PS Uninstall doesn\'t remove everything, because this is how one upgrades BOINC without losing a model.
So it IS possible to change horses in mid-stream.

Upgrading BOINC from 4.19 to 4.45 required a full uninstall of the old version followed by new install of the new. Leaving the BOINC directory in place allowed users to upgrade midway through a model without losing their work.
