I am running BOINC on my Laptop: Dell Inspiron 8200 Pentium 4m with Win2k professional.
This has been crunching Seti@home for a long time without problems, hardly ever running out of WU because I have my buffer at 4 days of work.
One month ago Seti was suffering from server problems and to avoid running idle, I joined CP.net and set BOINC to run 50/50 between Seti and CP.
Every hour I see a message BOINC is saving one project and loading the other, so far so good.
However, I frequently return to my laptop to find it idle and checking BOINC reveals that it has not logged a message for many hours, meaning that it was waiting to start CP and halted in that state, until I got back to my computer, logged in to the screensaver and found it without network connection.
This happens frequently, because I use several different wireless connections and have to switch between them manually (XP can automate this) but I am also often roaming around and often without network at least twice a day (during my commute the laptop continues running).
Having BOINC halt on CP even while it has still months of processing to go and Seti several days, does defeat the purpose of avoiding my laptop running idle by joining CP.
BTW - every time this happens I also see a string of messages: \"Restarting result sulphur.... using sulphur_cycle version 4.22\". \"If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project\" (Does not help) \"Result sulphur.... exited with zero status but no \'finished\' file\" \"Scheduler RPC to http://climateapps2.... succeeded\"

Anybody having a tip to avoid stalling on network loss????

Hi there,

What version of BOINC are you running?
Do you have \"Leave apps in memory\" set on in general preferences?
