05/01/2006 17:50:19|climateprediction.net|Unrecoverable error for result 3zms_... ( - exit code -5 (0xfffffffb)) what does this code mean? I\'m running Boinc Client 5.2.13 (Windows), and every Workunit finishes with this error. I\'am running SETI besides Climateprediction, and I have never had problems with SETI. BOINC is set to run allways on my computer, i exit BOINC when doing anything CPU intensive. so, first thing that was on my mind was that my system was unstable. and I tried everything. varios BIOS settings, changing memory modules, drivers, everything. problem remains. but, Climate prediction is the only program on my computer that has any kind of computation error. i stressed my PC to the max, and everything is perfectly stable, for the last two years. that includes Prime95 torture test (24hours without error), SuperPI 32M test, repeated 10 times (about 45 minutes each) without error, ScienceMark2, even 3DMark, Aquamark, PCMark, WinBench99... just to be sure that everything is stable. and it is. except climate prediction. my rig looks like this: Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe Athlon XP 1700+ 2*512MB RAM ATI All-in-wonder 9700Pro WinXP SP2 latest drivers from nVidia (for the chipset) latest drivers from ATi (for the Radeon card) latest updates fom Microsoft (for Windows) tested with both overclocked settings, and all set to default. same thing happens. :( |

The -5 error can also sometimes be caused by an antivirus app. What type do you run on that PC? |

The -5 error can also sometimes be caused by an antivirus app. What type do you run on that PC? NOD32. but I have discovered what was causing these errors. DirectX. Running DirectDraw game or program in foreground while CPDN is running in the background causes unrecoverable error. not allways, but very very often. Now I\'m avoiding that situation and everything works fine. |
