I probably will need to format my computer C HD and reinstall everything. I\'d like to save the work done with climate prediction/BOINC, or in any case, all the projects. Climate Prediction takes quite a long effort in time, I don\'t want to loose it. How can I save the work done so when I reinstall the programs all the work is restored again? Could anyone help me, I\'d appreciate it. Gustavo |

Backup your complete BOINC. Do all PC maintenance you need to do. Reinstall the same BOINC version that you had before, preferably (but not necessarily) into the same directory that you had before - but do not attach to any projects Copy the backup over the stuff you just installed, allow overwrite. There are other methods but this is probably the easiest and most riskless way ... plus it\'s easy to explain ;-) |

Backup your complete BOINC. ------------------- Thank you for your promptness!! Just to be sure. You mean copying (backup) the whole file C:\\Program Files\\BOINC and then overwriting the new folder? |

Thank you for your promptness!! Yes, he did. I would add one thing though. If you backup the BOINC folder to CD/DVD without zipping it first, when you copy the folder back to the hard drive it may have files that are write-protected. In that case you would have to change the attributes on the BOINC folder/files to be able to write to them. That is why I zip the folder up first before copying to CD/DVD. |
