Hmmm. What is the virus detection software you are running? What is the virus it thinks it found? |

Did you have a md5 checksum error in the Boinc message tab ? If not, your Antivirus is probably over-sensitive. Arnaud |

I doubt that you have a REAL virus, as no one else has reported it. Try AVG, free version. Lots of us use it. |

I have been running McAfee for about 10 years, and was mostly happy with it. Recently however I had many issues with false positives from McAfee, and it has even deleted some files from my computer without asking permission. I am going to get rid of McAfee, as I can no longer trust that software. |

No need to be rude with us. We are volunteers and do our best to help people like you: we don\'t have magical answers to all the problems. If you haven\'t had a md5 checksum error while downloading CPDN applications, it\'s completely impossible that your virus came from CPDN and since the launch of this project, nobody has seen or reported such a problem. AFIAK, all Boinc applications (CPDN included) are numerically signed with a md5sum algorithm, and any modification of these applications (by a virus or something else) would give a signature error and would not be used or unzipped by your computer. If really you had a virus, it came from another source. Second thing: If you really don\'t want viruses or reformat adventures, I would advise you to run a real OS like Linux: It\'ll make you more happy and polite. Since you have reformat your HDD, you\'re sure now that your computer is clean. As said previously, install Zone Alarm and AVG to protect your machine, and then after that, try to download a new model: I\'m sure it\'ll work. Arnaud |

Nicely said, Arnaud. - - - - - There is a cautionary message to the left of the block in which we compose our comments. Please observe the spirit as well as the letter of the message. Since going public in September 2003, the tone of CPDN Boards, with relatively few exceptions, has been high. We hope it remains so. - - - - - Edit: We still have no symptoms for the assumed-to-be virus. Lock the system? Destroy files? Fill the hard disk? Take over the CPU? ...
