Hi,

I signed up to the climateprediction.net programme yesterday, and i\'ve had trouble ever since. The programme does not run so that \"you barely notice it\" like the website says.

Why is it that, even after i exit the programme, games do not run smoothly? I click on the BOINC icon on the taskbar, and select \"exit\", but games are still sluggish. I did not have this problem two days ago. Has anyone else experienced this?

Other problems include scrolling down webpages being sluggish when the BOINC manager is running.

Is this a fixable problem? If not, how do I uninstall this damn thing?

I run an Athlon XP-m 2400+ processor on windows XP, and meet all other system requirements (I do use a laptop though).

Please help!

I would not expect you to be having these problems with your computer, which is a quite capable one, but yes it can be fixed.

When you click on the X in the top right corner of BOINC Manager that does not close BOINC or the climateprediction program, only the window. That is by design.

Normally, the climateprediction program will give way to other tasks, but for some people there seems to be something, probably other tasks they are running, that prevents this happening smoothly. When you find that you are having a problem, try suspending BOINC (right click on the icon or from \'commands\' in the BOINC Manager window). If you find that it solves things, either do that whenever you run the program that seems to struggle, or if necessary alter your general preferences (in \'My account\' on this website) not to run BOINC when the computer is in use.

all good advice.............

on a laptop it may be advisable to check your temperatures when running CPDN

other have suggested propping laptops up a little to allow better airflow as well

I see you have 512MB of ram which should be adequate
