Hi. I just started devoting my computer to this project and noticed that my computer has been crunching the data for this for over six hours but only shows having finished 0.5%. Yes, it does show a crazy completion time (1600 hrs) but this seems to be a different issue from the other posts on this issue. I am running a new dual core Pentium, so my CPU speed is not the issue. Either I have a monster work unit or else Boinc reporting on the Climate Prediction work units is hosed and needs some work. Im convinced of the latter. |

That\'s about right... the work units are indeed very large. I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |

You seem to have a very fast CPU - it takes me almost a full day to process 0.5% |

In fact you could run two models simultaneously if you want, one on each core - if you want to do this, set the \'num processors\' on the account preferences page to 2 from 1. I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |

You\'re lucky to have such a fast pc. I\'m at 3.5 after 10 days almost always on. |

I just moved here from Seti. And have done a lot of reading. I just hit 1.02% after 19 hours. Dual core @ 3.06 ghz and am running 2 units at the same time. Boatloads of ram also. The completion time is really wierd, but I see this happen to other users also, so I ignore that. Slightly worried about the reported deadline though. I just did 1% in 19 hours. At this rate, I wont be done for 62 days, which is way past the date deadline of February 12th. Should this be a concern? Or does anyone think the ticker for percent done will speed up? Thanks. |

You have a \'year\' to complete it, but only because there is a \'completion date\' field in the BOINC software, which needs an entry of some sort. In this project, deadlines are ignored. The completion date will decrease a bit, as BOINC \'learns\' about your computer speed/useage, etc. But there won\'t be a noticeable difference until after several hundred hours. Crunch on! :) |
