I truly believe in this project, but this is WAY TOO LARGE OF A WORK UNIT! I dont want my computer to by tied up for the next 3 months on one work unit. Why are the units so big?

Welcome to the world of climate modeling, where everything is large and slow.

There\'s always the FAQ in the blue menu to the left of here, in particular this section, as well as the Climate Science pages.

There\'s also the Message Board, for discussions and help on many subjects.

Hi, Eric,

I\'m having difficulty understanding your post. Please help me understand.

\"I truly believe in this project\" sounds good but is cast in doubt by the \"I don\'t want...\" part. Please forgive me if that, to me, seems inconsistent. (Admittedly, I assume you read the FAQ before signing-on. [It seems inconceivable to me that anyone would undertake a responsibility, ANY responsibility, without knowing what they were undertaking.)
The FAQ is here, in case you missed it:
http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/quick_faq.php#How_long_will_it_take.3F

What level is consistent with \"I truly believe...\"?

If you intend to run Distributed Computing projects, what does it matter if one Project takes months or another churns your machine with several Work Units per day?

Is it a mattter of credit for work done? Please understand that CPDN awards credit for work done --> as your work progresses. It doesn\'t make you wait until the Run is finished -- and it certainly doesn\'t make you wait until others have finished the same Run. CPDN doesn\'t work that way.

As to why the Work Units are so big, it\'s documented.

... for starters.

Anticipating your reply, for my own understanding...
