Hey All, For the last few weeks I\'ve been getting the following error running Boinc: Application popup: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library : Buffer overrun detected! Program: C:\\Program Files\\BOINC\\boinc.exe A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program\'s internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated. I first got this error running an old client so I have upgraded to version 5.2.13. I also completely removed and installed the software. I ran Prime95 for a day and came away with no errors so the PC looks stable. What I do appear to have discovered is that the error only occurs when running CPDN (I also run SETI and Einstein). I know this because I was forced to run without CPDN for a few days as I couldn\'t connect to the database (plus I was away from the PC for a while) - there were no failures whilst I was only running SETI and Einstein. When the error occurs I have to restart the manager, then the project displays computational error and the infamous error 161 is displayed in the messages screen. I run Windows XP Pro SP2 - BOINC runs as a service and I\'m not using the screen saver. It has been virus checked (AVG) and spam checked (Lavasoft and Spybot) I\'ve benchmarked the system with SiSoft Sandra, Prime95 and a couple of 3dMarks and have had no crashes. The error appears random and normally happens while I\'m away from the PC. In it\'s normal state the PC is doing nothing but number crunch. I\'m not sure what else I can do... Anyone got any ideas? DS PS specs if important: Athlon XP 3000+ (Barton) 1 GB Ram Nvidia Geforce 7800GS (AGP) Video card. |

No-one with any suggstions? As an experiment I have suspended SETI and Einstein. Have had no buffer overrun errors (yet) but have had the \"Zero status but no finished file\" error. Any chance they could be linked? LMK DS |

I haven\'t come across this one before. Perhaps if you post on the php board, you\'ll get the benefit of people who don\'t visit these boards. |

Answered here. OK - this didn\'t work either. I moved the folder, did a full defrag, then a full disk check (no errors found), then moved the folder back. All went well until today when exactly the same buffer overrun occured, again with the CPDN unit. No other units are ever affected.... Anyone got any more ideas? If not I\'m going to have to stop CPDN and go elsewhere DS |
