I upgraded to Boinc 5.4.9 today and got the following messages.

If I do as suggested and Detach then I am likely to lose the WU.

Do I need to take any action or should I wait for the WU to complete before detaching and re-attaching.

Message 22759 - Posted: 14 May 2006, 12:27:45 UTC - in response to Message 22732.

I tried the fix, but a short time later the WU completed from 16%.

I\'m going to try to edit the account_www.climateprediction.net file with notepad to change<url>http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc........ to
<URL>http://climateprediction.net/cpdnboinc........ - after copying the backup over the crashed model to see if that fixes the problem.

If this is the wrong thing to do, please post a reply to this. If all goes well I will report back after the next trickle.

sched_reply_www.climateprediction.net.wml

files with notepad to change<url>http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc........ to

Unfortunately this is a tough fix as if requires changing the directory names etc, which is why Ian made the program linked above.

In which files do I have to replace the URL if I want it to do without the tool, or if I want to check if anything is ok after the fix?

In which files do I have to replace the URL

Lots. That\'s why Thyme Lawn wrote a program to check and replace.
Possible only TH knows where all the changes are needed.

I downloaded the programm, did as mentioned above, and now I had this message:

19/06/2006 00:40:59|climateprediction.net|Unrecoverable error for result hadcm3lb_4kg4_05001104_0 ( - exit code -2 (0xfffffffe))

=> and a new WU ... I still have a backup but I am not sure what was the problem.

New Problem *G*

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/workunit.php?wuid=5006085

application HadCM3L Coupled Model Experiment
created 13 Mar 2006 1:20:18 UTC

errors Too many error results Too many total results

and the server state seems to be OVER!

Is this a problem or will the server state change again after the next trickle?

Hi, Philipp,

It went belly-up on 24 May. Did you restart from a backup?

The machine shows another Model downloaded on 24 May, is \'in progress\', and has no credits listed.

Hi Philipp,

It does look like the model was restored from backup, getting trickles:

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/trickle.php?resultid=5007181

The \'client error\' message will remain, but is ignored by the servers (which will continue to receive trickles, give out credit, and generate data for the scientists).

If you look at my own most advanced model, it also is displaying client error ...

Message 23365 - Posted: 23 Jun 2006, 16:15:13 UTC - in response to Message 23341.

Hi,

@astroWX

my problems occured after I tried to restore a backup of my www.climateprediction.net-folder into a new installed BOINC 5.4.9, the reason why BOINC downloaded several WUs, one of them on may 24th indeed, seems to be that there was something wrong with my first attempt to handle the backup.

After dealing successfully with the upgrade to a new BOINC Version with help from someone here, I had the wrong url message and tried to fix it with the tool from Ian which did not work for me for some reason. But what seems to work is the model itself, even if the state indicated on the site doesn\'t.
What I am going to do is let it run for another day or two, then if the state on the site is ok, my problem is solved, if not and the trickle information show that it is belly up I will download nilly-willy one more and stick to it.

Best wishes!

@MikeMarsUK thank you for that information, I hope that applies for my model too

Thank you for the quick answers.
