Hi there,
I have been using the original climate model (before BOINC) for over 3 years now. I am trying to add some extra machines (and cycles) and decided to use the new BOINC stuff.

BOINC Manager 5.2.13

Boy let me tell you this is very frustrating, I finally was able to download the BOINC installer (after many error messages), its installed, now, but now I am grappling with login issues. First I won\'t let me log in with my user account and password. I finally used my account key .. Good I am in, now I pick the project type, I copy and paste the climateprediction.net URL and BOINC tells me its not part of a BOINC based project it recognizes.

Yet on another machine downloading started somehow. I see many error messages and retrying in x mins messages. Is it actually trying to download the climate prediction project now??? Its trying to connect to a climate server in the UK. On a third machine it seems like its done but I don\'t know how to tell if this thing is working. With the old model I clicked on the earth icon in the sys tray and I could see progress etc. Also when this machine reboots, the project is gone and I have launch BOINC to start it again, but now I am seeing the \"the URL you supplied is not that of a BOINC based project\" The link is copied from the climate website itself (as instructed on the BOINC website)

Maybe I got myself too far into a pickle barrel here, but it seems the old way was much nicer and novice friendly, I am trying to help out , not master internet protocol and related network issues. :-\\

…could anyone spare a kind moment and help me out? I would much appreciate it. I promise I won\'t be as grumpy in my reply

Cheers,

-Larseroo

The newest version 5.4.9 (the one with the fancy graphs) wants \'climateprediction.net\' to be used instead of \'www.climateprediction.net\', the instruction page hasn\'t been updated to reflect this yet.

It may be that this is causing the other problems, or maybe not, but the only way to find out is to try :-) I\'d be interested to find out, so if it does fix the other problems please post back here.

Sometimes things like 404 messages can be due to servers having a bad day, but they claim they\'re OK.

Well no dice. Running 5.4.9 When I tried to attach to project and enter any variation of climateprediction.net (with/out http: or www I still get the same error \" The URL you supplied is not that of a BOINC-based project\"

<sniff!>
