Hi Everybody!

I\'m using:
Intel 32bit, Linux 2.4.x, BOINC 5.2.8

I don\'t get any work:
Master file download succeeded
Sending scheduler request to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi
Reason: Requested by user
Requesting 172800 seconds of new work
Scheduler request to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi succeeded
Message from server: No work sent
Message from server: (there was work but you don\'t have enough disk space allocated)
Message from server: Not enough disk space (only 228.4 MB free for BOINC). Review preferences for minimum disk free space allowed.
New host venue: home
General prefs: from climateprediction.net (last modified 2006-06-10 19:25:51)
General prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults

OK, 228MB is not too much, but my preferences:

Use no more than 0,5 GB disk space
Leave at least 0.001 GB disk space free
Use no more than 100% of total disk space
Write to disk at most every 60 seconds
Use no more than 100% of total virtual memory

Questions:
1. With these preferences, how much free disk space do I need?
2. How shound I change my preferences to get work with so much free disk space?
3. Can I some how force my client to send work units althought he thinks I don\'t have enought free space?

Thank!

Jeason

Hi,

Try changing this : Use no more than 0,5 GB disk space
to (say) 2GB.
I'm a volunteer and my views are my own.

Sorry, but it doesn\'t work. I made some free space, now it is 588MB but still not enought.

I remember reading somewhere that a coupled model needs just over 1G of space during it\'s duration. So, I think you need to start from there.

I think the TCMs use about 660 Megs for the model, plus the programs, etc.
I\'m running seasonal, so I\'m going from distant memorys.

You haven\'t said how much FREE space you have on your disk .
However, you do have a failed model, and the remanents of this will be taking up space, and the folder should be deleted.

These are my settings:

Use no more than 10 GB disk space
Leave at least 0.1 GB disk space free
Use no more than 95% of total disk space
Write to disk at most every 60 seconds
Use no more than 75% of total virtual memory

The 1st is just being generous, and I think that the rest are the defaults.
