I believe that the 32-bit client can be used with 64-bit windows (don\'t know if any settings need to be changed). I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |

It\'s been tried but was unstable. Lack of resources preclude further development -- into the forseeable future. There will be little, if any, speed boost with native 64-bit code, so there is no imperative to change things. (The Model started, and still exists, as a 64-bit Model for supercomputers.) Two of my A64 X2 4400+ boxes have WinXP64; no operational difference between those two machines and another 4400+ and a Pentium D940 with 32-bit XP. No special operator actions required. By the way, your laptop is a bit short of memory for this project so the hard disk might take a beating with swap/page activity, especially if you use it for other things. (Strongly recommended to elevate the case above desk surface to aid cooling; even better, park the thing on a docking station with an aux. fan.)
