I am running Bionic 5.4.9 on WIN2K SP4, 2.53G Celeron with 1G ram.

When the screen saver kicks in all I get is the bionic logo with a percntage graphic or a blank screen. How do I get the screen saver to show the correct graphic of the globe?

This is not isolated to the CPDN tasks. The same thing happens to SETI, Einstien, and Predictor when the screen saver kicks in. The \"show graphics\" option from the B-manager shows the correct graphics when it is avalible. Then again that is only about 70% of the time. Even on tasks where it had be previously avalible.

Hi,

It sounds like you have an issue with Boinc, rather than with the climate project - I\'d suggest going over to the Boinc site (http://boinc.berkeley.edu) and seeing if they can help.

We tend not to use the screensaver at all, since it slows down processing, and makes the model more likely to crash with a graphics error. Try setting screensaver to blank, and then use \'show graphics\' instead.

Sorry. I thought the idea of a screen saver mode was to be able to \"Look at it!\" I do have the \"go to blank\" setting enabled for the reason you mentioned. Still, it is kund of nice and cool to actualy see a visualization of the work being done. Plus, it makes a nice night-light.

While the \"show graphics\" feature is good to verify things are working and progressing, my point is, if there is a screen saver mode it should work as advertized, without work arounds. Either take it out or make it work. I added hardware to all my systems to make sure the screeen saver could run without sacrificing(too much) processing time for the models. Recouping that time with the \"go to blank\" setting. But if I am told I am getting a screen saver too, I expect to SEE said screen saver in full technicolor.

A few things:
The screen saver has caused problems with crunching. It has caused bad results, and so it\'s better to use a simple screen saver, or save money and shut off the monitor. Use the \"Show Graphics\" when you want to see the information.

The screen saver takes away from processing time. That huge 3D screen saver is taking memory, and taking cycles away from your crunching, extending your time to finish a result.

If installed as a service, the screen saver will do what you are stating. There are some fixes, but since I do not use the screen saver, I never pursued where these fixes are.

People like the nice graphics as the screen saver, but it can be a bad thing to use. I wish it would be taken out as an option, but because people are used to it, they keep it.

Balboacz: Is this a service installation? i recall there are still problems with
running the screen saver in service mode. If you\'re unsure just reinstall the program - either shared or single user mode.
Also try, updating your video cards drivers.
Restarting the client.
If this is repetitive then please provide your video card details.
