model is taking way too long to process.

13hrs into it and only .5% done? none of my other BOINC processes take that long. It estimated some 1700 hrs to complete! I\'m also doing rosetta, SETI and SETI Beta, and Einsteins. All process normally. What\'s up with it. Does it take this long normally? And I don\'t have a slow computer either. |

Yes, it should take months to do a unit. I do multiple projects, and some of my CPDN will take nearly a year. Very normal. These are 160 year projects. You get trickles, which give you credits, every year of the project.

I have in the past also run multiple projects beside CPDN. At that time I had 66% allocated to CPDN, the rest for the other projects. This allowed for CPDN to also make some progress. |

Given that the work units are so long, it\'s always a good idea to take a backup of the c:\\program files\\boinc directory after shutting down the model. Given that the work units are so long, it\'s always a good idea to take a backup of the c:\\program files\\boinc directory after shutting down the model. That way if something happens to the work unit, you can resume it from the backup. Hello, I’m a new to the BOINC and climateprediction. It’s going to take me 4 or 5 months to run model. I realize that with a project that is going to last so long it is a good idea to make a backup. How do I do that? |

* Right-click on the Boinc icon, and \'exit\' * Navigate to c:\\program files\\ using My Computer or Explorer * Right-click on \\boinc\\, and \'copy\', \'paste\' * (if you get a \'files in use\' error, then reboot and repeat the above 3 steps) * Now you can resume the model by running the boinc manager.
