If you send me units on sulpher or volcanos or whatever else that is downloaded. I would love to see the graphics on that, other then the spinning globe. Or in the \'show graphics\' window, I have the option to change the view. Why does it not affect the screen saver? |

Best to use \'show graphics\' instead of the screensaver, and change the windows screensaver to \'blank\', and \'turn off monitor after...\' (say, 20) minutes. The screensaver takes a lot of CPU power away from the model when you\'re not actually looking at it (or when the screen is powered off - turning it off is the best thing to do from a power usage viewpoint as well). I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |

Hi I\'m new here but I must agree it\'s better to simply turn-off the screensaver and only look at the \'show graphic\'s tool when feeling like having a view of the progress (it does provide some handy info on the #sec/Timestep-speed and, more importantly it also show\'s the model\'s date&time so you can see when you\'re nearing the end of the year and following trickle-time, if I\'m not mistaking) the cpu-time used for running the screensaver is way more then most people expect, try running a cpu speed-performance graph (open \'Administrative Tools\' via the Start menu, open the \'Performance\'-tool, it shows a system monitor that\'s writing a graph of several counters, let it run on the background while your scr.saver is running) you\'ll be amazed. But for those who still want to see that ball turning so they can amaze bypassers and gloat about the Boinc-prog AND their high creditslevel ofcourse but who also dislike the grey textmenu and don\'t know how to turn it off... It\'s very simple, the shortcut key\'s like ctrl-Z are only designed for the \'show graphic\'s\'-tool ofcourse (you can\'t manipulate a screensaver when it\'s active fool:-)but when you do use them there, the screensaver will have the same setting as your latest alteration you\'ve used on \'show graphic\'s\' next time it loads.. Try it, open Boinc manager, change the \'show graph\' layout for exaple ctrl-Z+ctrl-W, close the shit and wait.. When your scr.saver loads it should have those new settings enabled (mine does when I use this modus operandi) but I have noticed it does change back to default (user prefered) setting after boinc was networkactive in the background, I guess that\'s also logic.. But it is possible to tweak these parameters and settings to fit your preferences with a bit of patience and trial&error.. Just don\'t complain about the screensaver not doing what you want it to do and CP being such a lousy piece of crap prog when the real problem is you simply don\'t know how to use it right ;-) Greetz2all |
