Hi guys. Sorry if this is elsewhere, I used to have a direct link to an FAQ regarding this but it appears to of gone down. Anyway, I just finished a nice fat WU, and got one more left with around 130 hours left on it. I wanted to go and back up the data from the completed WU since I\'d read that it might be useful to the project in the long-run, but looking at BOINC\\projects\\climateprediction.net is a mess! There are two folders, txf, and hadcm3lbm_bcpblahblah, which matches the name of the WU still in progress, but no second folder where I might deduce the first WU would be. Did the data get stuffed elsewhere, is it in this mess of zip files in the cpdn folder, or when I uploaded results did BOINC flush it down the tube? And at this point would backing it up be worthwhile for the project anyway? I did read the sticky, but wasn\'t relevant in this case. Might partly be, and copying what ever is left in the cpdn folder after the second wu is completed might end up being the way to go, but I\'m checking for any more precise method that might exist. Thanks! |

Hi, Congratulations on finishing the WU. If it was a coupled model, then there\'s no need to store the model after it has finished (although backups while it\'s running are a good idea). It uploads a summary of it\'s climate at yearly intervals, and a full \'restart dump\' at 40 year intervals (i.e., 1960, 2000 and 2040). This was a new feature added for coupled models, since they\'re so long. -Cheers, Mike I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |

That answers it pretty well; no need to backup after completion. Thanks again! |

Well, AFAIK these TCM-modells also \"clean up\" after a successful run - So you cannot see a remaining directory by purpose. |
