Flat-lining

My total credit has flat-lined for about the last seven days also, my RAC has dropped dramatically. I thought I noticed a message that the project could not communicate with the server. Have I developed a problem? |

It sounds like it. What do the messages (in the Messages tab), say? If you\'ve rebooted, they are still available in: stdoutdae.txt in the BOINC folder, with the error messages available by themselves in: stderrdae.txt Also, if you\'re NOT communicating, then the trickle files will be accumulating in the folder with the model\'s name, and start: trickle_up_ followed by the name and a long string of numbers. It\'s possible that the last Windows update has messed up your firewall settings, so that some of the needed ports are now blocked. |

The flat-lining appears to start on the 14th of September and has continued. Looking at the error file for the 14th I get: \"Scheduler request failed: HTTP servo error\". This was repeated four times on the same day. The next message is on the 20th September: \"Project is down\". |

I seem to have tried the suggestions offered to no avail. I know that there is an open port and I assume it is port 80. All other communication with the project appears normal. There is one odd thing though, I appear to be in a loop as I have been at 85.715% quite a few times then, reaching 86.128%, I then revert back to 85%. Is this normal? The Windows firewall is \"OFF\" but the Norton Internet Worm Protection is \"ON\" and I have carried out the exception criteria as detailed. Head scratching time! |

\'Normal\' in a way, but only for models that are trying to crash. This is reported so often that we\'ve just created a sticky explaining it. (It\'s best to check it in terms of months/years though, rather than percent.) Explaination here. Port 80 is the one used by web browsers, as well as part of BOINC. But there are others that are used. The most likely problem though is a looping model. |

Explain looping model and what are my options? The date has reverted from 29/10/2058 to 18/03 2058. |

O.K. I have aborted previous model 5.07 and now running 5.15. A bit peeved that it didn\'t finish though. |

It appears that I did have two problems as you correctly stated. Having started a new model and tried to alter the Norton Worm Protection to allow the boinc manager to communicate, I am still getting the message:\"Scheduler request failed: couldn\'t connect to server\". Are there any other suggestions that I could try to unblock the ports that are required for communication? |

Following the eleven data point flat line from 14th to 24th September which was my original \"Flat Lining\", query, I have had two small increments on 25th and 27th September interspaced with two, and three data point flat lines respectively. The model is incrementing date-wise and appears to be operating normally however, following the statement that there have been several, \"Server outages\", I feel that there is still a problem somewhere. I read that someone else was experiencing a similar flat line problem and your answer said that everyone else was getting through but, this was co-incident with my problem so I do not think this was the case. Are there still problems with server outages at your end? |

Yes - the credit process is not running. There\'ll be a big jump in credit once everyone gets back after the weekend, and they have a chance to restart the process. I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |
