I have BOINC installed on 6 computers, 1 PC with Intel (XP), 4 PCs with AMD (XP), and 1 mac with PPC (OS X). Looking at the history of my account for the first time (I have had the program running since early last year), I have noticed almost 90% \"Client Error\" as results of the models that have run. All of them on the AMD machines. In fact, none of the AMD machines ever resulted in any successful end of the models! I am very disappointed of so much time being wasted. Does anybody know why it doesn\'t work on AMD PCs? T. Gordi |

My AMD PC works fine. The first one I looked in your computers result list failed with a \'negative pressure\' error, this usually is due to erratic floating point calculations. This can happen if the PC is overclocked too far, overheating, or sometimes due to memory problems. Have a look at the \'Solutions to models crashing\' post, in particular try out Prime95\'s Torture Test (downloadable from www.mersenne.org). I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. The first computer in your list, which is the one that\'s had the most model crashes, has had several -107 exit code failures: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/hosts_user.php?userid=43157 In the Crashes and other Problems Readme here http://bbc.cpdn.org/forum_forum.php?id=4 it would be worth looking at link #6 about updating graphics cards - free download from the web. 107s are often due to a graphics problem. It would be a good idea to get the updates for all the computers. Cpdn news |
