I have ran the Boinc on my computer. Now I must change my computer. What have I to do to transfer Boinc to a new computer?

Hi, Cabajka, welcome to the Boards.

Use Windows Add/Remove in the Control Panel to uninstall boinc. (It won\'t touch your CPDN work.) Zip the entire boinc Folder (it\'s probably in Program Files) and send it to the new machine (via LAN or DVD) and un-Zip to the location of your choice. Re-install boinc in that Folder and it\'s ready to resume your work.

The reason to reinstall boinc is to put the proper values in Windows\' Registry on the new machine.

Good luck with it.

(I put boinc in its own Partition, ~15 GB, which allows plenty of space for backups and different versions; the purpose is to allow fast Defrags each time I make a backup.)

Edit: If my comments are not clear, please post again and I\'ll send an email to another fellow in Prague who can answer in Czech.

If you use a DVD or CD don\'t forget to clear the read only bit after moving the files to the new location.

Hi, John,

My understanding is that transferring a zipped file precludes the necessity of dealing with that, which is why I recommended it. Am I wrong about that? (I\'ve done it without issues but might just have been lucky.)

You are correct, I missed the zip part in your instructions.
