I am running a WU on one PC and want to connect to the same PC across my network. I have installed the software and tried t connect to the PC with the WU on it. When trying to select the computer I see the PC name in the dropdown but am unable to connect as I do not know what password to use. I have tried my logon password, and a blank one, plus various others but no joy as yet. Any help is gratefully received to get this connection started. |

I have also tried the password located in the gui_rpc_auth.cfg file, again no success. I must be doing something wrong somewhere. Maybe my configuration is incorrect |

Hi, Ian, welcome to the Boards. I\'m confused by your comment: \"I have installed the software and tried t connect to the PC with the WU on it. When trying to select the computer I see the PC name in the dropdown but am unable to connect as I do not know what password to use\". Did you install boinc/CPDN on other computers to try to see the Model over the network? It doesn\'t work that way. Which drop down box? (I see that you have CPDN on two laptops.) If so, BoincView might be what you require: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/download_network.php Is this a Windoze Networking question, something to do with \"My Network\"? There have been problems running CPDN on laptops, much of it to do with heat. Care must be taken to elevate the case to allow plenty of air circulation, with fan maintenance, and keeping heatsinks clean. A heavy load is also imposed on the hard disks. Thanks for the info. The reason for my post was that I was taking part in SETI a while back and was able to work on one WU with muliple PCs. Was wondering if I could do this with CPDN. |

I have also tried the password located in the gui_rpc_auth.cfg file, again no success. That should work, as the password required is in that file. For remote access, you have create a file called remote_host.cfg containing the IP or name of the remote machines authorized to access BOINC.
