Need control over CPU usage (yes, I know Thread Manager trick, but like as a system administrator I could say it is too hard for most normal users :) I don\'t understand - every time I restart my computer, the task starts from the beggining. Should I care about BIONIC before restarting? No, guys, I don;t think so :) So I see there is a lot of work to do. Good luck. _____________________________________________ Can we change the future? I presume you mean Threadmaster? I wouldn\'t want to use it either. When the soon-to-be-released (we hope) new Simple Boinc GUI becomes available, it will contain a CPU throttling facility. You could try the beta version if you don\'t mind taking the risk. Cpdn news |

When you say \'the task starts from the beginning\' there are several alternatives which may be occurring. Are you getting models being killed with an exit code 1? If so, then this is probably due to Windows killing the task too quickly. The default shutdown kill time in Windows is 20 seconds, this can be modified by changing a registry setting. Alternatively, if the same task continues running, then how much CPU time had it had before it was shut down? It saves state at intervals, typically 10-20 minutes depending on the speed of the computer. Do you have the \'leave in memory\' setting turned on? If you copy-and-paste in the contents of the \'messages\' tab it may make things clearer. I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |

Thank you guys for your suggestions. I will try. Sometimes when you want to do something rapidly, but it doesn\'t happen so easy, you could become annoyed very quickly. It\'s human. Now I\'m going to distribute the climateprediction tasks among my several servers. If you feel you could help me doing this task, please Skype me (the same nick). To moderators: it looks like my thread doesn\'t fit to this kind of messages (Wish list, I mean), so you could move it to another place, I think. Thank you again for your support. |

To move a task between computers, you need to take a complete backup of Boinc (c:\\program files\\boinc\\ and all contents) while boinc is shut down. This can be moved to a different PC. However you can\'t move a single task in isolation, which is a pain... I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |
