It just started today; about a week or two ago, I went from distributing my allocation among several projects to 100% CPDN.

Everything was fine until today, when my computer started randomly crashing. I finally managed to narrow it down to CPDN - none of the other projects is causing a problem.

My computer ID is 480521.

Any idea what is going on? I\'ve suspended it for now, but I don\'t want to scrap my model and have basically wasted all that CPU time.

You have your computers hidden, so I\'ll just suggest that you look through the 4 README files here to see if anything applies to your problem.

Perhaps run Prime95 torture test for several hours and see if that also crashes the computer. If so, it\'s a heat or hardware issue.

Locking up.

Assuming that it has enough memory (512MB RAM), then I\'d suggest that you have a go at running a hardware test. The recommended one is http://www.mersenne.org\'s Prime95 Torture Test. This will test the systems memory and CPU to confirm that it\'s all working OK. You\'ll need to exit boinc before running the test.

It\'ll run for as long as you leave it, I recommend running it overnight at least (I most recently ran it for 24h on my main PC just before starting my current batch of climate models, just to confirm everything is well).

If it passes, then that probably indicates a software problem of some sort rather than a hardware problem (i.e., the graphics drivers may need to be updated).
