No Screensaver

I have not seen any screensavers after installing BOINC. Has anybody have an idea what is wrong? Peter van der Meij |

Which screensaver is listed in (right-click on desktop) / Display properties / Screensavers? Incidentally, it\'s often best not to show the Boinc screensaver, use the \'show graphics\' button instead. Otherwise you\'ll be wasting CPU time when you\'re not actually looking at the screen... Which \'show graphics\' button are you talking about? The one in the Tasks tab of the Manger (gui) The modelling program itself is NOT a \"screensaver\". It\'s a low priority background process. The supplied BOINC screensaver, which is separate, can be a real time waster as far as cpu clock cyles go. |

Which \'show graphics\' button are you talking about? OK, found it. But this does not solve my problem with not having seen any screensaver after installing BOINC. |

Could be a graphics driver issue - try updating your graphics drivers, and also make sure you have the most recent version of DirectX (9c?) I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |

Updated all and still no screensaver. However sometimes I get the BOINC logo jumping arround the screen. |

I think you get the Boinc logo EITHER when none of the projects are running, or when a project is running which doesn\'t implement the screensaver. What other projects do you run, do they all have screensavers? I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |

I run the following projects: Rosetta, Boincsimap, Climateprediction, Einstein, TANPAKU, Seti and SZTAKI. On your question which has screensavers: Silly question. None. That was the complaint. |

Not so silly. Some of the projects supply a screen saver, and some don\'t. If you try to use a BOINC screen saver on a project without one, you won\'t get far, and I think that it can mess things up. |

Not so silly. So how do I find out which project supply a screensaver and which don\'t? In the past I used Seti which did supply a screensaver and I would expect that they would have that facility with the new setup with BOINC. I admit I might be wrong. |

Rosetta, CPDN, Einstein, and SETI have windows screensavers. Simap and SZTAKI do not, I don\'t know about TANPAKU. You should see the BOINC logo and a percent complete if you are running a project without a screensaver. BOINC WIKI   BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |
