Hello, I\'ve got a problem with the old Climate-Prediction-Client. It calculated a model and wanted to upload the result which worked fine for the last few years now. But that doesn\'t work for a few days now. Are there any Problems in the moment? When are they solved? I\'ve got the version 2.2.29 Thanks for your help, Manfred |

The new models do NOT work with BOINC versions 4.* And you MUST use Windows uninstall to remove these old versions before upgrading to the 5.* version, otherwise you\'ll end up with a split version, and LOTS of problems. |

The new models do NOT work with BOINC versions 4.* Hmm. But it\'s not a BOINC-client. It\'s the old Climateprediction-client as you can see in the versionnumber of the client (I\'m not shure with which versionnumber the BOINC-Client came productive). It would be OK if I couldn\'t download a new model. But it should be possible to upload the calculated model - otherwise two month of work would be thrown away. And two months ago the upload succeeded without any problems. So I\'m wondering a little about this. So I\'ll install the actual BOINC-Client on this machine to go on with the new software. Thanks for your help, Manfred |

There is (or was) a manual upload feature in the Classic version. It should show in the options menu. It\'s a rather straight-forward process. If you can\'t find the option, please post back and I\'ll try to work my way back to find it. Edit: Your laptop is at the lower margin for machines able to run the current CPDN Models. The two Pentium III machines, speed unknown, have crashed hundreds of Models each. Recommend that you try some other boinc Project with them as I doubt they can handle a CPDN Coupled Model. A thought: The laptop still has XP SP1 installed. SP2 and a lot of security upgrades are available from Microsoft --> Start/Control Panel/Security Center. Ah well, if you\'re still running the \'classic\' software, you\'ll have to stick to the old, (now obsolete), slab models from the Open Uni site. Your two Linux computers are showing BOINC version 4.09, which is VERY old. The current Oxford models all require BOINC to work, as will all future models. As astroWxX said, there are ways to get the classic models uploaded, but very few people still around would know about it now. And that web site could be having problems and no one here would notice. |

Hi Manfred The two Linux computers are crashing all the models they\'re getting - hundreds - and this could be because if they have the old version of boinc, maybe it isn\'t now supported. You need to update their boinc clients. If I were you, I\'d manually upload the classic model and then if possible let that computer also work on some boinc project. For cpdn the computer needs a minimum of 1.6GHz CPU and 512Mb memory. If the computer is below these minimum specifications, let it work on some different boinc project with smaller workunits because the researchers in Oxford now have a lot of classic models. For the manual upload: On the cpdn website menu http://www.climateprediction.net/openu/index.php click Open University course click My cpdn and on your classic login page http://cpdn.comlab.ox.ac.uk/user/login.php the manual upload link is on the left. I think (could be wrong) that there are usually 13 files to upload - one for each box - but if your automatic upload was partially successful, you will have fewer files to copy into the boxes. Manfred, when you\'ve done the manual upload, could you please post again to tell us whether it\'s successful. Cpdn news |
