Having completed about 2.5% of the model, I have now returned to zero, after many many cpu hours! Is this an error?

Your model crashed and you are on a new one.

Reasons for this:
1 Machine has only 256M memory, please try to upgrade.

2 You are using the screen saver, this can cause issues, especially with limited memory.

3 Bad memory, might be good to test it with something like Memtest86+

Those are most likely the issues with the crash you received.
