screen saver problem

old_user430128 Send message Joined: 7 Feb 07 Posts: 2 Credit: 2,449 RAC: 0	Message 26626 - Posted: 7 Feb 2007, 17:39:27 UTC hi folks, i just installed boinc, and everything seems to work fine, but i\'m somehow unable to change the screensaver properties. when the screen saver is on, it says \"use keyboard keys to change view...ctrl + key\" etc. however, when i press ctrl, i\'m back in windows (as you would expect, the screen saver stops as soon as any key is pressed). what am i doing wrong? i\'m pretty sure it\'s a silly problem. :) ID: 26626 · Reply Quote

Some BOINC applications handle keyboard/mouse input. If you hold down the control key, any additional input will be passed to the application, and your computer will remain in screensaver mode. I don\'t think it was due to a change in the climate app itself. Our general advice is however not to use the screensaver at all, because it just wastes CPU time and wastes electricity - if you set screensaver to (blank), then use \'Show Graphics\' whenever you want to view the image instead. Problem is that in Screensaver Mode no matter what key is pressed the saver is exited. Normally you should be able to press ctrl to stay in saver mode an then press key t for temperature f.e.
