10 days ago I suspended my 2 models forgetting that “allow new work†was checked as a consequence 2 new models downloaded. I suspended them, aborted & updated. 1 model was removed but the other is still there. I have tried everything to get rid of it with out success. Any suggestions? |

You mean it\'s still there in the Tasks/Work tab of your boinc manager? (The record of previous models won\'t disappear from your server work pages.) Cpdn news |

I think you mean you can see it in the Tasks/Work tab of your boinc manager. (Task Manager is part of your computer, nothing to do with boinc or cpdn. Get to it by right-clicking on the clock, bottom right of screen.) You certainly don\'t want more than one model because although your computer has plenty of memory for a climate model, the CPU is under-spec. But it\'s doing well and you must have it working 24/7. I\'ve never before heard of a model refusing to be aborted and staying in the boinc manager Tasks/Work tab even though you\'ve highlighted it and clicked Abort. It\'s certainly listed here as \'In progress\', though it isn\'t crunching. It\'s the first workunit in the list: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/results.php?hostid=528719 I don\'t think it\'s doing any harm, but on a slowish computer you wouldn\'t want it to inadvertently start crunching and take time from your progressing model. Your computer is dual-core. The model you want to abort must be on the other core from your crunching model. I think you probably need to go into your preferences and select Use at most 1 core. Then click Update. Then try the Abort routine again. Before doing any of this you should back up the whole boinc folder. In the News and Announcements section here you\'ll find 4 READMEs. In the collection about Crashes you\'ll find item #1 by Les about how to back up. http://www.climateprediction.net/board/index.php Cpdn news |

One of my machines has one, and one of a friend\'s machines has one. It\'s been discussed before, without resolution, if I recall correctly. My boxes have plenty of boinc-dedicated memory, so I don\'t sweat it. One could always delete any associated folders but I haven\'t bothered because client-state edits would also be required. Hi thanks for the info, Its running 24/7 as its my network server, it has dual server grade CPUs although slowish its reliable. I backup daily. The model won’t start as I’v tried several times. I did think of deleting all reference to it in the BOINC folder but thought I might make thing worse. I guess I’ll just have to put up with it for now. |
