That shouldn\'t make any difference. Were any firewall changes or updates made about the same time? Please post any relevant entries form the boinc Messages tab. "We have met the enemy and he is us." -- Pogo Greetings from coastal Washington state, the scenic US Pacific Northwest. |

I have installed Boinc 5.9.0 for Windows XP64 today morning. Boinc cannot connect to server since that. I had previously boinc 5.8.8. I get error: BOINC couldn\'t do Internet communication, and no default connection is selected. Please connect to the Internet, or select a default connection using Advanced/Options/Connections. Strange because I have permanent connection to Internet. I do not use any proxy or socks server. I tried to turn my firewall off but it haven\'t helped. 2007-03-02 12:17:24||Access to reference site failed - check network connection or proxy configuration. This line indicates that BOINC isn\'t getting out of your setup to the outside world. (The reference site is Google.) Being a non-standard version of BOINC, it may be something to do with the settings of 5.9.0 |

Hi. I have almost the same problem as Tom Kokee above. I have Boinc 5.8.11 (didn\'t update or anything) and permanent connection but was off line during the point of the project that would have been the first trickle. The thing is that it didn\'t. I connected to the Net after several hours and I got this set of messages. 22-Mar-07 00:44:49|climateprediction.net|URL: http://climateprediction.net/; Computer ID: 584692; location: (none); project prefs: default 22-Mar-07 00:44:49||General prefs: from climateprediction.net (last modified 2007-03-20 01:25:34) 22-Mar-07 00:44:49||Host location: none 22-Mar-07 00:44:49||General prefs: using your defaults 22-Mar-07 00:44:49||Reading preferences override file 22-Mar-07 00:44:49||Suspending network activity - user request 22-Mar-07 00:47:32|climateprediction.net|Restarting task hadcm3pbb_axei_05783925_1 using hadcm3 version 515 22-Mar-07 00:47:45||Resuming network activity 22-Mar-07 00:47:47|climateprediction.net|Sending scheduler request: To send trickle-up message 22-Mar-07 00:47:47|climateprediction.net|(not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks) 22-Mar-07 00:47:55|climateprediction.net|Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 509] I have read somewhere in here that the Coupled Model trickles every model year or 25920 timesteps. After writing the above everything seems to be ok...I got my credits and I have understood that in fact those messages above are telling it just as it is. It was me the one to get it wrong in the first place. Thanks for reading me anyway...:) |

No worries, glad everything is working. The credits are only added once per day, so as you\'ve discovered there is a lag between you uploading a trickle, and the credit being generated and downloaded back to your PC (up to 36 hours).
