\'Transfers\' tab window blank & \'Commands\' greyed out and unusable, is this correct? |

The Transfers tab only shows downloads and zip file uploads. If you\'re not watching at the right moment, you\'ll miss them. Commands greyed out is bad. ALL of the menu items should have their contents usable. I\'ve never heard of this before, so I don\'t know what to suggest. Perhaps a re-boot will help. |

If you mean the two buttons \"Retry now\" and \"Abort Transfer\" in the \'Commands\' box on the left of the screen when you\'re looking at the list of transfers - don\'t worry about them either. The buttons would only become active if you happened to catch the screen during the few seconds when a transfer event is actually happening, and selected one of the transfers in progress. They\'re there as a sort of emergency repair kit: in normal running, you don\'t need to touch them. |

Ahh. That could explain it. In the version I\'m using, the box is called Tasks. I do wish the BOINC people wouldn\'t keep changing the labels. |

Les, I\'d be willing to bet a tall cool one* that the changes are triggered by squeaky wheels, in some Project or other, wanting grease. (Strictly a guess on my part; I don\'t visit the boinc Devs Board; Rom would know.) Frustrating, nonetheless, as you suggest. Issues relating to terminology not infrequently makes the Mods\' job more difficult. * Well, we drink our beer cold in the US. I\'d stand for a warm one it you prefer it that way. Apparently it\'s cold. Unfortunately, I have a drinking problem. I can\'t stand the smell of beer, let alone the taste, and for an Australian, that\'s a serious problem. :) Yes, I think that the devs keep trying to make BOINC simple enough for the \'average person\' to understand and use. Unfortunately, BOINC is only a small part of it. Understanding the science apps is often more important, and people doen\'t seem to read the info supplied. And in the case of cpdn, there just isn\'t anyone to keep the FAQ updated now that Sylvia has moved on. |

ID 216408 gave me a reasonable explanation and I\'m running with that. I\'m keen to help but unfortunately I\'m to busy to attend to things of this nature - if it works fine and if it doesn\'t I\'d have to reconsider taking part. I visit forums etc as a last resort. Thanks anyway. |

Brian When you said \"Commands\" I thought that you meant the Commands section in the menu. And I said so in my next post. As it is, there is nothing wrong with your manager. |
