I attempted to relocate the climate data folder to a new computer this morning, but it didn\'t seem to work. I shut Boinc down on both computers, then copied the climate folder to the new computer. I them reinstalled Boinc with the repair option. When it started, it didn\'t see the climate folder.

Should this have worked?

There are files outside the climate folder that are necessary in order to make it work.

ah- I should have thought to look at those files. I see several files that are specific to ClimatePrediction.

Could I assume that it\'s everything with climateprediction.net in the filename? :)

This is what I\'m actually doing. It\'s going to take an eternity for my laptop to process, so I decided to move the ClimatePrediction project to my new dual core desktop, which is already processing Seti and World Community Grid.

Does anyone think it\'s theoretically possible to migrate ClimatePrediction to this other computer that\'s already running other Boinc projects?

Thanks!

Theoretically possible? Yes.
Recommended? Decidedly not. It\'s complicated and risky, even for experts. (Edit: There\'s more to it than simply moving CPDN files. Editing of boinc files is required.)

If it were me, I\'d set \'no new work\' for all Projects on the dual core box, then drain it of work. When all work is completed, detach from those Projects and delete the boinc folder (or rename until you know this procedure works).

If you change the location for the boinc folder on the dual core, uninstall boinc with Windows facility first. Otherwise, ignore this step.

Meanwhile, stop CPDN & boinc on the other machine. Zip* the boinc folder and move it to the dual core box. Unzip to whatever Partition you choose, and re-install boinc into the folder (to set the proper Registry values). Restart boinc & CPDN.

When all seems normal, re-attach, as an existing user, to other Projects of your choice.

*Zipping the folder isn\'t required but if you use CD or DVD rather than LAN to move the unzipped folder, be sure to reset Properties/attributes to \"read/write\" after moving it.

Just to be very sure:
Could I assume that it\'s everything with climateprediction.net in the filename?

No you can\'t!
It\'s the ENTIRE BOINC folder, along with all of it\'s subfolders.

Thanks, that sounds like a plan to me and is how I will proceed.
