Hi,

I have started Boinc, and my only project CP have not started, although BOINC client states \"Calculating\".

The day before, I shut it in a standard way.
I have checked all settings, and all settings of calculation or communication are \"turned on\".

I logged on other projects, and there is not any problems with it, calculation runs on full throttle.

What should I do?

I tried run hadcm3trans_5.15_windows_intelx86.exe directly, but it does not start at all.

Thanks

Martin

If you leave it alone for a few minutes, it probably would start. I am betting it was doing a benchmarking test.

Thanks, but unfortunatelly, this is not the case. I checked \"Messages\" but there is standard message \"resuming work....\" I left it for 45 minutes and nonthing happened.I tried to shut down BOINC and run it again, nothing. Other projects are working without problem.

How many other projects are you running on this computer? Are you sure that your climate model isn\'t simply waiting for its turn to run?

Yes, I am. Every other projects are stopped. CP worked the day before.
I checked the windows task manager and the file not runnig is
hadcm3transum_5.15_windows_intelx86.exe.
The file mentioned above hadcm3trans_5.15_windows_intelx86.exe is running.
But I do not know why?

Hi again Martin

You have 2 computers

*the single-core computer reported a crashed model yesterday 15 March and got a new model on 15 March. This model hasn\'t trickled yet - it probably hasn\'t reached December 1921 yet. Is this model running OK?

*the dual-core computer has one model, Result ID 628041 which trickled on 13 March. Is this the problem model?

The file name hadcm3transum.....is the model. The file hadcm3trans..... is the graphics. As far as I know it isn\'t possible for the graphics to run if the model isn\'t running.

In your Boinc manager Tasks tab, what does the Status column say?

The problem is on the single core. For the whole week, the status tab showed \"calculating\" (this is a translation, as I have Czech language BOINC).

It stopped on 12,699% i.e. in 1940. I tried to copy from my second computer the .exe files, as the names were the same, but error occured (probably different .dll libraries).

New model arrived and is running without problems.

I just wanted to finish the model and get into the prediction phase. I commited 354 hours of processing time. I have back up of the model made at the moment I spotted something got awry.

Is there any chance to save the work?

Thanks

Martin

Martin, I think you would have had to back it up before you spotted something going wrong, sorry! It\'s best to back up at regular intervals - I do it weekly but some do it every day, or even twice a day. There\'s also an autobackup program you can use - link to project ReadMe for backup, including autobackup here

Even if you can\'t restore your crashed model, your time and your computer\'s have not been wasted, because the data you have already sent will be useful - also you will still get to keep your credits!

Good luck with the new model - and make sure you back up regularly!

Could you be kind enough to post the entire contents of the \'messages\' tab onto a reply here (click the \'copy all\' button). It may give us some clues about what is going on.

Don\'t worry about the fact that it might be in Czech, Honza will be able to read it :-) (Similarly, he\'ll be able to read the status bar message too).
