This morning one of my models that started on 6 Nov 2006 finished, but it seems to have failed in uploading its results. I tried to resend the results manually producing the following error messages:

Now I want to know if my results did arrive on the CPDN server or not.
(Work unit ID: 5755110, Result ID: 6015217)
It seems that ongoing retries don\'t help. Can I stop file transfer attempts?

You\'ve got your computers hidden, so no one here can check if it did arrive or not. You can check that for yourself though. See what the outcome is if you go through Your Account, Your Results, click on the Result ID number of the result you uploaded and check what it says for Exit Status and stderr.out .. Post those if needed. Or give a link to the result ID

The Upload server had problems earlier today. You must\'ve been caught in the fray.

If you set \'network activity suspended\' for a day or two to give them a chance to fix the servers that would help.

Some models previously-restored-from-backup will give an error message similar to that, which can be ignored (the trickle server doesn\'t care about the Boinc status).

Thanks for your advice. Finally my results\' upload succeeded. Must have been due to the upload server problems you mentioned.

I followed your instructions that lead to the following result:
http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=6015217
How can it be that my model ran without any obvious problems for 5 months and then it ended in an outcome of \'Client error\' though the exit status was 0 (0x0)? Furthermore \'Server state: Over\' and \'Client state: Computing\' seem contradictory to me.
Probably I can ignore those odd findings. But it\'s still a bit disappointing.

The first part gives the current status of the work unit, in this case it\'s completd.
The second part says why it\'s in that state, in this case, it\'s Over because something went wrong with the computing of the model. (Rather than the model not being heard from for months, or any of several other possibilities.)

As for why it failed, you\'ll have to work that out for yourself by looking at the errors listed on the page for that model.

These are climate models, and climate is something that gets harder to \'work out\'/\'predict\'/calculate\'/\'guess\' (pick one), the further from the starting point one gets.
Models can crash for many reasons; computer hardware fault, conflicting computer software problem, or simply because that the particular set of starting values used, led to the model slowly (or in some cases, quickly) becoming unviable.

The linked-result goes up to 2081, so it\'s successfully completed (despite the error messages, which as mentioned earlier can be misleading).
