Hello,

because of a system crash I lost two old and a new downloaded WU.

After stabilising the system and testing with prime, I started BOINC again. Boinc started the download of a new WU (Version 5.40), but the download failed. A Checksum error in the application file was notified.

Now I get no WU from climateprediction for more than 24 h. Download time of the failed download is: 3 May 2007 8:03:17 UTC.

What can I do to get a new WU?

Thank you for your answers!

Your error shows your BOINC can\'t download hadcm3transum_5.40_windows_intelx86.zip
Are you behind a firewall/proxy that doesn\'t allow ZIP files to be downloaded?

No, my firewall allows me to download every filetype.

In addition I lost also a new WU, which was a WU for the 5.40 version. This WU was totally downloaded without any failure.

How did you lose that one? Is your system so instable? Or has it gone missing because you can\'t download that one zip file? And is it only that one zip file you cannot download? Can you leave behind part of your messages log, please? The last 20-30 lines or so.

But once you hit the download quota, you can\'t do anything else but wait. Unless an admin resets your quota for you.

I had instabilities with my PSU. So the system crashes. The old WUs crashed, too. After restart boinc uploaded the crashed old WUs and downloaded a new, which crashed from another instability.

My system is, I think, after changing PSU and testing with prime95 for six hours now stable.

The messages from boinc are these:

Please navigate to your BOINC directory (default at C:\\Program Files\\BOINC).
Then on to projects\\climateprediction.net
Check if you still have all those files there, and are only missing hadcm3transum_5.40_windows_intelx86.zip

If you are, try to download it from me, here.

Save it directly to C:\\Program Files\\BOINC\\projects\\climateprediction.net
Overwrite the old one, Yes.

Make sure you exit BOINC before doing this.
Now there\'s probably something you should still edit in client_state.xml file in C:\\Program Files\\BOINC\\

So hold off on restarting BOINC while I ask around what it is.

Well, it wasn\'t necessary to decompress it, as BOINC will do that for you. ;)
I asked Thyme Lawn to come by and check what may need to be changed in client_state.xml, as I can\'t tell you myself as I am not running CPDN (also due to an instable system, but in my case it was broken chipset drivers ;))

When I look to my result tab in my CPDN account. The client state for this WU is downloading and the time report shows 3 May 2007 11:00:35 UTC.

Has this any influence?

No, not after we fix your client_state.xml file. Then that entry in Boinc Manager will be gone.

It is not in the BOINC Manager, but on the CPDN Homepage.

I think the thing to fix this is this:

Open client_state.xml with Notepad.
Use Edit->Find to find hadcm3transum_5.40

It should show something like this:

<file_info>
<name>hadcm3transum_5.40_windows_intelx86.zip</name>
<nbytes>1553234.000000</nbytes>
<max_nbytes>0.000000</max_nbytes>
<status>1</status>
<signature_required/>
<file_signature>

.
</file_signature>
<url>http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/download/hadcm3transum_5.40_windows_intelx86.zip</url>
</file_info>

Check if your nbytes number is the same as above, if not edit it to show like that.
And make sure the status is 1. I think yours is still at 0.

Now save client_state.xml, by going File->Save. Then exit it with the X. (Do NOT Save As.. as that will add .txt to the file).

Make sure hadcm3transum_5.40_windows_intelx86.zip is in your c:\\program files\\boinc\\projects\\climateprediction.net folder (as a zip file, not decompressed).

And that should fix it. The Downloading status should fix itself the next time BOINC had contact with Climate.

If you still want to wait for confirmation from a moderator here (or Thyme), then please wait with restarting BOINC.

I´m sorry, but I have no entry with hadcm3transum_5.40 in my client_state.xml. Only a few picture files (*.png)

As the model has already reported a downloading error it\'s likely that all record of it has been deleted from client_state.xml and you\'ll have to wait until the website allows you to download another one.

It might be possible to regenerate the hadcm3inct_ckx3_1920_160_0587759.zip file if it\'s been deleted, but if the <file_info> and/or <workunit> section for hadcm3inct_ckx3_1920_160_0587759 are missing from client_state.xml I\'m afraid that result\'s gone for good unless you have a copy of the file with them in :(

One slight consolation is that if the project zip files are still on your disk you won\'t have to download them again.

No, there are no project files on my disk. So it seems, that my only opinion is to wait.... :-((

Nevertheless, Thank you very much!
