I need some help with this error. What does it mean, and how do I fix it?

Looking at my log, I\'ve had problems for quite a while I guess - but I think this one is new since I installed 5.10.13.

Kind regards,

It could be several things, was Boinc installed by the same user account which is running it? Has it ever been on a CR-R disk? (if so, then file permissions need to be fixed).

Is there a firewall or suchlike which is preventing Boinc from starting tasks? (for example, ZoneAlarm Security Suite).

It was installed by the same account running it.

* First I tried to reset the project (even though it had no work to do).
* Then tried un-installing and re-installing
* Then figured I\'d admit defeat and ask someone smarter than me. ;-)

I do run zone alarm, but I haven\'t touched it in ages, and it seemed to work in the past. It\'s allowed to access the internet, and prompt for anything else, but I get no prompts. I guess I\'ll delete the entries in ZA, and see if I can get it to work that way...

Windows Group Policy tool has a feature to restrict applications to only things launched in the start menu or on the \"approved\" list. Is this a work PC, or has it been locked down by an installed software package or sysadmin?

Take a look at the \'firewall configuration\' post in the following README:

What virus program are you using? You may want to tell it to stop scanning BOINC and all it\'s subfolders.
