For the past few days I got the following error message: 07.09.2007 10:55:02|climateprediction.net|Temporarily failed upload of hadcm3inct_cmnp_1920_160_05879850_0_8.zip: error 413 Can anybody tell me, what this is? |

A search of the net indicates that it means: \"entity too large\". Can you please copy some of the message lines before and after this one, and paste them here. *********** Anyone else have ideas? The server again? An ISP problem? Proxy server? |

Les, we must have been searching simultaneously. We know this isn\'t because of a server problem. Climateapps2 wasn\'t accepting zip uploads overnight Tues-Wed, but the servers have been fully functional since then. The error messages members received during that night were different. Ulrich, which version of boinc have you got? Is your internet connection through a proxy? I think you should suspend network activity in the boinc manager Activity manager while we investigate the problem. I also think you should back up the complete contents of your boinc folder as a precaution. Use a method eg Les\'s easy manual method available through my signature. Exit from boinc before taking the backup. Thyme Lawn has said about this error in another thread \'The 413 error code is the HTTP response code for \'Request Entity Too Large\'. This suggests that the files you\'re trying to upload are larger than the limit imposed by the proxy server you\'re using.\'. In this Seti thread a solution is suggested: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/server_status.php We need advice about this from members who know about proxies (I don\'t). Cpdn news |

I am using BOINC 5.2.12. My internet connection is through a proxy (at least at the moment). I have no problems uploading SETI results. I have suspended the network activity for now. The BOINC server upload handler never sends a 413 response (the upload is always permanently failed if the file is bigger than the maximum allowed size), so it has to be coming back from your proxy server Ulrich. My guess is that the proxy server has a file size limit smaller than the size of boinc\\projects\\climateprediction.net\\hadcm3inct_cmnp_1920_160_05879850_0_8.zip (I can\'t tell whether the file is going to be around 8MB or 16MB). Can you check the link you quoted? It only takes me to the server status page - no thread anywhere there! |

Hi Ulrich It isn\'t an internet link. It\'s the name of the file you need to upload to the server. Thyme wants to know its size, how many Mb it is. If you open your boinc manager and look at the Transfers tab, file hadcm3inct_cmnp_1920_160_05879850_0_8.zip should still be there and you can see its size. Cpdn news |

File is 15.75 MB |

File is 15.75 MB I guessed that might be the case. You need to make sure that your proxy server allows a content length of at least 16MB. "The ultimate test of a moral society is the kind of world that it leaves to its children." - Dietrich Bonhoeffer |

I used another internet access now (without proxy). Upload worked now. So the problem was really due to the proxy not being able to handle large files. Thanks for your help, guys! |

I\'m glad that\'s fixed. One last thing. In your messages I\'ve just noticed \'removed from memory\'. This means that every time you suspend the model, it goes back to its last checkpoint. This wastes CPU time. (You can see the countdown to the next checkpoint in the graphics window.) There are 2 solutions: *Keep the same old version of boinc and in your preferences select \'Keep application in memory while suspended\'. Then click on Update in boinc manager to inform the server of the change. *Upgrade to a newer version of boinc. Keeping the application (=model) in memory will then be the default behaviour for boinc. Cpdn news |
