Hello all, Please don\'t laugh... I keep getting these messages: 20/12/2007 11:02:33|climateprediction.net|You used the wrong URL for this project 20/12/2007 11:02:33|climateprediction.net|The correct URL is http://climateprediction.net/ 20/12/2007 11:02:33|climateprediction.net|Using the wrong URL can cause problems in some cases. 20/12/2007 11:02:33|climateprediction.net|When convenient, detach this project, then reattach to http://climateprediction.net/ How can I be using the wrong URL when I don\'t log on manually??? How can I detach without losing the model I am running? I have been ignoring these messages for a while (hoping they will go home), and have had no problems so far. Should I keep doing that? In case it helps, I run Vista, Comodo Firewall and Bitdefender Antivirus(on which I have excluded BOINC) I have moved the BOINC file to C, and take regular backps. Any ideas? thank you for your time, skatzohoiros (greek for hedgehog) |

Hi Skatzohoiros Simple enough - it\'s your BOINC access that has the wrong url. It originated in the early days, when there were 2 urls: one WITH www at the start, and one without. But then BOINC was \'improved\', and all projects were allowed only one url, in our case without the www. It\'s not a problem, and can be left until you finish your model. THEN detach, and start again with the correct url. There is a cure, which involves editing an xml file in several places. A program was written to do this, but I don\'t remember were it is. It makes sense now. I will go do my homework on detaching and re-attaching then. Thank you Les! |

Or, as Les mentioned, you can run Thyme Lawn\'s utility to set things right. (Worked for me, more than once.) Thyme Lawn\'s fix for incorrect Project names: not attached to \'bbc.cpdn.org\' or \'climateprediction.net\': http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?p=44068 Be sure to stop CPDN and boinc first, then make a backup. (As the old saw holds: Better safe than sorry.) Edit: Apologies for the late post; I\'m still getting caught-up after being away a few days. Thank you astroWX. I haven\'t tried it yet, but it since it worked for you, I guess it\'ll work for me too. Best wishes for 2008! Skatzohoiros |

Do take a backup first, if it doesn\'t work then it\'ll muck up your boinc installation. I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |
