Hello boys & girls.
I try to install boinc in various machines as a service but whenever i try to connect with my account it says. Failed to retrieve SID to connect to local host, and it terminates the installation. already tried to 3 machines.
any walkthrough? :(
thanks

Hi,

I presume you\'re trying to install 5.10.45 rather than 6.1.14? (V6 is not recommended for use, it is for testing only).

You don\'t want 6.1.14 because it will be buggy!

Can I take it from your answer that you\'re trying with 5.10.45 (which is the correct one?) :-)

I haven\'t done a service install myself, but many people experience problems if they try V6, so that\'s why I was checking which version you were installing.

When the service install prompts you for the user name and password it\'s asking for a login account on your computer, not your CPDN user name and password (that comes later, when you attach to the project as an existing user). Service install requires a passworded login account.
