This host was formerly attached using 5.x BOINC, but I recently upgraded to 6.4.5 after putting a GTX 260 into it. In the process, I also moved my BOINC data folder to another drive since I was running low on space. Unfortunately, when I copied my projects over, 6.4.5 did not recognize the old work so I lost the 4 CPDN models it was working on.

Since doing this, it (CPDN) has only allowed me to download 1 work unit. Am I correct in assuming this is due to the other 4 models being left in limbo? How can I get it to download 3 more?

Thanks for any advice.

Moving the data section when using BOINC version 6.* should be done by using Windows Install/Remove.
This uses a file created by the BOINC installer, to move the data section back to the program section.
Then re-install BOINC, using the Advanced option to specify the new location for the data section (and, optionally, the program section). This will allow BOINC to keep track of where your existing project data is located.

Your old models may still be where they were. It all depends on exactly what you did during the move/upgrade.

****************************

Version 6.4.5 was released rather quickly to provide for those people who were desperate to run cuda apps, and in the process, the work fetch schedule section was broken. And most, if not all, of the existing problems still remained.
The current test version (6.5.*), is only (at present), to work on the Manager, (which will be released as 6.6.*,) and the work fetch problems, (and, hopefully the other existing problems), be worked on in 6.7.*, and will appear in 6.8.*

So your lack of extra models is due to your use of the faulty version, and there\'s not much anyone can advise regarding a fix, other than to revert to 6.2.19

That computer really has been turning in a lot of completed models and doing an impressive amount of work.

It\'s still listed as having a quota of 4 models per day, but the 4 models you copied over are listed as detached. Although the server says they\'re over, it also says they\'re new, which means not over. (These classifications are sometimes quite crazy.) So the server may think the computer still has a full load of models.

After the reinstall, if you still can\'t get new work you may need to reset CPDN. Your new model hasn\'t advanced much yet so you wouldn\'t waste a lot of computing time.

I\'d try uninstalling 6.4.5 and reinstalling version 5 to see whether BOINC then finds the models again and they run. You could then upgrade to 6.2.19 as Les says, using the BOINC installation options for folder location.

Unless you plan to run work from a CUDA project on that graphics card, stick with BOINC 6.2.19 for the time being. You\'ll see from the project News thread (top of the Number Crunching section) that this is what the CPDN moderators are advising for the time being.

Thanks for noticing! :)

I do use the GTX 260 to crunch on GPU Grid, so unfortunately I need to stick with 6.5.0 for the time being. The good news is that I downloaded another CPDN model today on that host. I\'m sure as I clear out some of the other work units it will grab more eventually and be running CPDN and GPU Grid 24/7.

Thanks for the advice mo.v.
