I\'m looking at the Workunit details for some of my tasks and found that lots of errors from other hosts. The max # of error/total/success tasks is set to 5,5,5 Would it be possible for the project to use a 5,7,5 setting instead, so there is enough room for 5 errors and 2 successes. |

This project has a high model attrition rate, so the administators use their own mechanisms for statistical replication. Do not worry about what the BOINC settings are. This has been discussed is several other threads. |

I asked the same question a few years ago and suggested that the numbers should be changed so that users aren\'t confused or worried by irrelevant error messages. Let\'s hope something is done about it this time! Should be easy to do. |

The reply from the project people included among other things: The data is also used by other parts of the server code. To remove the messages in question would involve a fair bit of work, and this would have to be done each time the server code was upgraded. There\'s already a large amount of customising that has to be done each time. **************** A lot of people have complained about scientists not keeping the public informed about what they\'re doing. One of the replies to this is that a lot of the public wouldn\'t understand the science anyway. The problem with the page in question is similar: It\'s easy enough to understand if people make the effort; most just don\'t. Lots of people don\'t even seem to know about the News and Announcements thread. Backups: Here |
