This is a new feature in BOINC v6.10.43, designed to give volunteers additional control over the way BOINC works. Some people are put off running BOINC because they find, or maybe are just worried about the possibility, that BOINC may interfere with their daily use for their computer. If you crunch, as well as CPDN, for one of the projects which has been able to install the very newest BOINC server software, you will be able to control the percentage at which this limit kicks in through that project\'s website. Unfortunately, CPDN hasn\'t been able to install that newest software yet, so the only way to control the percentage is through BOINC Manager itself. Switch to \'Advanced\' view, and select \'Preferences...\' from the \'Advanced\' menu. You should see: Change the figure I\'ve highlighted: you\'ll see that I\'ve gone back to the old behaviour, with no restriction at all. Please note one drawback to this procedure: once you\'ve set any preferences from this screen, all the preferences - with the figures from all three tabs - are set on your computer, and the new local preferences override anything set on this website. If you find you want to change any setting in the future, you\'ll have to do it through BOINC Manager, not via the website. |
