I have been wondering something about the coming Millennium Model. At this moment it is unclear whether it will be released as one enormous 1200 year WU or in 200 year segments like the recent Famous WU’s. While the challenge of running such a long WU is intriguing, it is also more than a little daunting. It must be even more daunting for the newbie’s.

What I would like to know is are there advantages to running the entire 1200 year WU on one computer. Does it produce better results than having several computers possibly using different processors and even different OS’s run shorter segments of the same WU.

One advantage of shorter segments must be a higher completion rate. The longer that a WU runs the greater the chance that the person will get bored and simply abandon it or loose it to a computer failure or simply to an operator error such as forgetting to exit the model before shutting down the computer.

The previous release of the FAMOUS model WAS the Millennium model. It just wasn\'t stable enough for the public.
The problem is, there is a very short time frame for the sponsorship of the work, which includes a lot of groups other than these Oxford computer models.
Hopefully the latest 200 year test models will be better. And released soon.

But processing all 1,000 plus years on the same computer will give better results for the physicists. It\'s a matter of not much time left, and what they can get.

The longer models haven\'t been tested yet. So it\'s wait and see.

And hopefully the so-called \"deadline\" will be reduced a lot to get across to people that the results are needed ASAP.
