Hi, would it be possible to change the sort order of the list on cpdnboinc/results.php so that tasks are sorted in descending order of "Time reported or deadline"?

That way I could see at a glance what is still running and what has finished recently, whether it be valid, invalid, pending, or whatever.

The current "task id descending" order gives a jumbled sequence. It seems old task ids may be being re-used. I have two SM3 tasks in the 11.0 million range, issued to me after completing other SM3 tasks in the 11.4 million range. (I guess because they were issued to others but the deadline expired, so they were put back in the queue.) All my SM3 task ids are smaller than the FAMOUS ids, but seem to be mixed with the AM3P ones.

As a result, the page doesn't show activity in any logical order from my point of view. Changing to 'report date descending' would give me a picture that makes sense.

Thanks -- G

The 'In progress' option in the list at the top of the tasks page gets you some of the way there, though it's a selection rather than a sort.

Agreed, and I use it, and the 'valid', 'invalid', 'pending', and 'error' filters.

An 'all on one page' view would be better, though. Any chance of this getting into the issue tracking system for a future release of the web page code?

Perhaps one of the cross-project people might have something to say, but I would guess that the task page is a BOINC thing - and therefore the change needs to be made (and requested) there. There's no prospect of CPDN customising BOINC code, except where the particular properties of CPDN tasks require it - they've enough problems keeping things up to date as it is. (Though the issue is perhaps worse here because tasks are issued 'out of order'.)

If you can persuade BOINC to make the change then every project will benefit eventually.

Thanks for the info, Ian. I will see what the BOINC people say.

Conceptually, it's just changing the "order by..." clause in an SQL statement.
